Ore United

FOOTBALL wasn't always associated with hooliganism and there was a time when it really was a beautiful game.
And there are many fond memories for former players and their families who were involved in the weekly highs and lows.
This photograph was sent in by Josie Booth, of Clifton Road, whose husband was a player on the team.
Mrs Booth said: "My late husband George Booth was one of the team for many years. In the photograph he is second from the right on the front row.
"Some other names I remember are the Lambert twins, Charlie White, Winkie Wingfield and Bill Gasson. Perhaps others will recall the really smashing times we had and how we used to travel to other clubs in Hastings and they would travel to Ore. No problems, no fighting, just a lot of really good memories."
If you were part of Ore United and recognise some of the names or faces and have some tales to tell contact Richard Morris on 01424 856784 or email richard.morris@trbeckett.co.uk.

THIS SNAPSHOT of football buddies struck a poignant note for a family and launched an appeal to the owner of the photograph.
When this picture of Ore United Football Club appeared Linda Smith spotted her father.
By chance its publication coincided with her father's death the same week.
Ms Smith said: "I received the cutting of Ore United Football Club in Bygone Days from my Aunt who lives in Hastings.
"She felt she needed to send it to me as my father Charles White, front row second from left, passed away on February 5. We would love a copy of this picture.
"It was a fitting end to know he appeared in the Hastings Observer, be it too late for him but we appreciate the chance to see him, as he was then.
"These are the days when he and my mother met, so we would love the picture for her."
The photograph was sent in by Josie Booth, of Clifton Road, whose late husband George Booth is pictured front row second from right.
Ms Smith would like Mrs Booth to contact her in relation to obtaining a copy of the photograph.
