Sussman factory works outing
WORKS outings were a chance to let your hair down and escape the everyday chores.
And by the looks on these faces it was a welcome break.
The photographs were sent in by Pauline Gay, from Fairlight, who worked at the LS&J Sussman factory for 12 years from 1958 to 1970.
Ms Gay, 63, said: "Both photographs were taken on work outings but in different years. I think we went to London for the trips though.
"It was a very busy factory and we made shirts for Marks and Spencer. I remember the manager Bill Sleeth and Mr McFarland. And once or twice a year the two owners, Norman and his brother David Sussman would come down to check how things were running. They were the owners of several factories across the country."
If you recognise any of the faces in the photographs or remember working at LS&J Sussman, share your story with Richard Morris on 01424 856784 or email richard.morris@trbeckett.co.uk
