Princess Elizabeth's visit to Claremont

Princess Elizabeth meets the dignitaires

OUR recent coverage of Royal visits has prompted yet more response from readers.
Mark Beaumont, principal at Claremont School, contacted the Observer with another picture of Queen Elizabeth - this time when she was still a princess.
He said: "The article on the Queen's 80th birthday inspired me to look in our archives and dig out a few photos of her visit in 1952.
"The photographs show the young Princess Elizabeth being received at the school gates by the Mayor of Hastings while Claremont pupils lined the road, cheering wildly as she got out of the car."
Were you one of those pupils? Do you have any memories of the day? If the answer is yes then please get in touch.
